Flying to Santorini
Please keep the travel time in mind when you’re planning your trip.
We recommend departing the U.S. on Tuesday, May 12 and arriving in Santorini on Wednesday, May 13. We DO NOT recommend flying in on Thursday, May 14 and hitting the ground running — please allow at least one full night of sleep so you can be fully rested for the next day’s activities! Here are some recommended flight itineraries:
FROM SAN FRANCISCO
(5/12) SFO ✈ LHR / LGW ✈ JTR (5/13)
FROM LOS ANGELES
(5/12) LAX ✈ LHR / LGW ✈ JTR (5/13)
The only direct flights to J T R (Santorini) is from London so we recommend searching for a round trip flight from LON (LHR or LGW works) and another roundtrip from London to Santorini.
If you’re checking in bags, you will need a minimum one-hour lay-over to have enough time to grab your luggage from the baggage claim.
Taxis at J T R (Santorini) airport are readily available, even late at night.
Expect a 20 - 25 Euro fee for the ride to your hotel.

Definitely pack sneakers if you plan on walking around and exploring. There are a lot of stairs and cobblestones in Santorini.
For our boat day, bring a hat or really strong sunscreen. We’ll also be taking off our shoes (as to not track dirt on the boat) so bring sandals!
Sneakers for walking
Fancy wedding clothes
Light jacket for night (it will get cold/windy)
We recommend staying in Imerovigli, Fira, or Firastefani. Our wedding venue will be at The Rocabella Hotel in Imerovigli so staying nearby is recommended.
We don’t recommend staying in Oia as it is heavily congested with tourists. You can do Airbnb but keep in mind it will be hard to get around as there aren’t a whole lot of convenient bus stops/taxis that drive around compared to at a hotel, you can ask front desk to call a taxi for you.
Check trip advisor and plan out your meals because we tried winging it for a few places and wouldn’t recommend doing that. Do your research! Below are a few of our favorites:
for breakfast — continental breakfast/eggs are a good basic, pancakes are phenomenal!
for lunch/drinks/dinner — A seafood restaurant. We got their fried sea bass with uni toast for lunch and it was heaven. the view is also amazing!
for lunch/dinner — If you’re craving/curious about sushi in Santorini! Good nigiri, udon and an amazing black sesame creme brulee.
According to Trip Advisor (and Roger), the best gyros on the island.
Pistacio & watermelon sorbet was delish.
This is in Oia!
Winery with the most amazing view of Santorini (skip the cheese board and just get the wines). Make sure you make a reservation ahead of time!
